December 28, 2011 – The Center and two Arizona herpetologists submitted a status report to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service establishing the need for Endangered Species Act protection for the narrow-headed garter snake.

July 7, 2014 – According to our 757 species settlement, the Service finalized protection for the Southwest's narrow-headed garter snake as well as the northern Mexican garter snake
