Action timeline

May 8, 2002 – The Center petitioned the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to list the relict leopard frog as an endangered species. The Service designated the frog as a candidate for listing.

2005 – The Center filed a lawsuit against the Service for failing to make expeditious progress in protecting the relict leopard frog.

July 2005 – In response to the Center's listing petition, federal and state agencies signed a conservation agreement to reduce threats to the species, increase the size and number of populations by introducing frogs to springs in Nevada and Arizona with suitable habitat, and maintain associated riparian and wetland habitats.

July 12, 2011 – The Center reached a landmark agreement with the Fish and Wildlife Service compelling the agency to move forward in the protection process for 757 species, including the relict leopard frog.
