Court of Appeals Upholds EPA Greenhouse Gas Reduction Rules in Their Entirety

Center for Biological Diversity Statement

WASHINGTON— The District of Columbia Court of Appeals upheld the EPA’s foundational rules for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions today in their entirety.

“Now that the D.C. Circuit has affirmed the reality of the climate crisis and EPA’s duty and ability to address the problem, it’s time for the agency to aggressively combat the most serious social and environmental threat of our age,” said Kassie Siegel, director of the Center for Biological Diversity’s Climate Law Institute. “All parties need to put politics aside right away and work toward the solutions that are so readily available — because the moral case for action could not be stronger.”

As part of the Center for Biological Diversity’s Clean Air Cities campaign, more than two dozen cities around the country have passed resolutions in support of ambitious EPA action to cut carbon pollution, demonstrating the strong, broad public support for rapid and science-based action to address the climate crisis.

The Center for Biological Diversity is a national, nonprofit conservation organization with more than 375,000 members and online activists dedicated to the protection of endangered species and wild places.
