Black carbon is an extremely powerful greenhouse pollutant with a very short atmospheric lifetime of only a few days to a few weeks. Reductions in black carbon can help slow global warming in the near term, and thereby constitute an important part of a comprehensive plan to address the climate crisis through reductions in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. Panelists will discuss concrete proposals for immediate black carbon reductions.

The event is sponsored by American University Washington College of Law, Clean Air Task Force and Center for Biological Diversity.

The Center for Biological Diversity is a national nonprofit conservation organization with more than 180,000 members and online activists dedicated to the protection of endangered species and wild places.
